The Model 2550 is a mid-sized stump grinder packed with plenty of power to meet the needs of professional stump grinding contractors who need a dependable machine and reliable workhorse. With gasoline and diesel engine options available, the Model 2550 packs the punch to power through large jobs.
Key Features
• 49.6 horsepower gasoline and diesel engine options available.
• Comes with a Bandit wheel with Greenteeth or a New Revolution wheel with hex teeth.
• Low-maintenance hydrostatic cutterwheel drive
• Standard four-wheel drive
Beltless Hydrostatic Drive
With no drive belts, sheaves, bearings or clutches to worry about owning and operating the 2550 is a great choice! Easy-to-use machine-mounted controls are intuitive and positioned to provide good visibility while grinding, allowing the operator to take full advantage of the 2550’s capabilities. This reliable system delivers power directly to the cutter wheel with virtually no parasitic power loss
High Power With Low Maintenance
Bandit’s hydrostatic direct-drive stump grinders deliver all the stump grinding power demanded by professionals, without all of the normal maintenance costs. It’s not uncommon for companies to see maintenance costs drop by as much as 30%, compared to traditional belt-driven stump grinders.
Backyard Stump Grinding
The 2550 excels as a backyard stump grinder because of its 53 1/2″ cutting swing and 15″ cutting depth. The 2550 easily fits through a 36” wide gate and has a tight turning radius allowing it to reach areas other stump grinders can’t get to.
Dual Tires
Adding to the 2550’s strength and stability are the standard dual tires for the drive wheels. These tires increase flotation, stability and traction and are especially effective when traveling over or grinding on uneven terrain. Note: the dual tires will need to be removed in order to fit through a 36” gate; they can easily be taken off by removing a single center bolt.
Heavy-Duty Construction
The Model 2550 features all-steel welded construction, ensuring longevity and low maintenance costs. The total weight of this unit is around 2,280 pounds, meaning the unit is well constructed. All Bandit stump grinders feature heavy-duty control valves that last. Many competitive units are known for using valves that wear quickly, leading to costly repairs and downtime. All Bandit manual control grinders are equipped with these heavy-duty control valves, ensuring years of dependable service.
Individual Drive Motors
The variable speed drive system includes hydraulic drive motors with brakes providing maximum drive power for traveling up hills and chip piles. These motors will also hold the unit in place while grinding, which is especially effective as the chip pile gets larger or grinding progresses. The travel speed can be adjusted via a control knob located on the unit, allowing the operator to easily set the desired speed during travel or grinding.
Grading Blade (optional)
Available on the Model 2550, a 35” wide grading blade helps simplify the clean-up process after grinding.
Remote Control/Tether (optional)
The Model 2550 is available with an optional tether and remote controls.
Cutter Wheel Options
The Model 2550 features a 21″ diameter x 1-¼” thick cutter wheel, either as a Revolution wheel or Green Wheel.
