The Model 255XP is a 15″ capacity disc-style chipper featuring a similar feed system to the Model 250XP but with feed wheels that are 25″. The extra feed wheel width further assists with pulling and compressing material into the chipper. As with all disc chippers, the 255XP will effectively chip larger diameter material while utilizing less horsepower and fuel.
(2) Powerful dual feed wheels are driven via 32.3 CID hydraulic motors providing 4,480 pounds of pulling power. The standard hydraulic lift cylinder easily crushes and compresses material reducing chainsaw work. A wide profile 64″ wide infeed with fold down tray is standard. For added durability an optional solid tray with heavy-duty rim is recommended.
Gas and diesel engine options are available from 120 to 174 horsepower. All of these combinations make the 255XP a great option in the 15″ chipper class.
Key Features
The Model 255XP is a rugged, dependable chipper with a 15-½” x 25” chipper opening with gas and diesel engine options up to 174 horsepower.
Bigger & Better
This rugged 15” capacity, hydraulic feed disc-style chipper is built like our very popular Model 250XP but with a larger disc and chipper opening.
Easy to Tow
The 255XP is appealing to those who want a larger diameter capacity but want to retain a size that is easy to tow.
Efficient
The approximate 45° chipping angle, the precise knife angle, along with the synchronized feed, yields uniform chips while minimizing the amount of energy required to convert trees and brush into chips.
Heavy-Duty Chipper
The heart of a hand-fed chipper is the chipper disc and housing. The ruggedness of Bandit chippers is the key to their productivity, dependability and longevity.
• 45” diameter, 2” thick disc
• 2 solid pockets
• 4” chipper shaft at hub
• Heavy duty chipper base with ½” front plate and ½” support gussets in anvil area
• 2-7/16” flange mount roller bearings
Greater Capacity, Greater Power
Bandit’s 15” disc-style Model 255XP has the power and performance of a whole tree chipper with the size and maneuverability of a brush chipper. This dependable unit can process trees and limbs up to 15” in diameter with minimal trimming required. When equipped with the popular self-propelled track undercarriage, the Model 255XP becomes an ideal machine for site clearance projects.
40 Gallon Steel Fuel Tank
The high-capacity fuel tank should provide more than a day’s fuel supply for most applications. The tank is easy to drain should contaminants enter the tank. Rochester float-type gauges make fuel levels easy to monitor.
Patented Infeed Chute Lift Assists
The heavy-duty 64” wide hopper on the Model 255XP has a spring loaded lift assist that is standard, making it easy to raise and lower the infeed hopper of the chipper. The heavy-duty fold out infeed pans of the larger Bandit chippers tends to be on the heavy side, due to their size and strength. These spring tensioned assists make it easy to raise and lower the infeed chute.
Wide Infeed Openings
The large opening allows multiple pieces to be fed and provides a bigger opening for limby or crotchy material, increasing production and reducing the amount of trimming required to process material. Operators are more productive and less fatigued.
Powerful Dual Feed Wheels
Bandit’s Model 255XP is equipped with two horizontal 25” wide x 10-5/8” diameter hydraulic feed wheels and with 32.3 CID hydraulic motors. The powerful dual wheel feed system makes it easy to chip large diameter material and multiple stems. It also makes it easy to feed limby material, reducing the need for trimming. Because the wheels are horizontal, gravity helps spread out the material, maximizing the surface area of the feed wheels, and the infeed opening into the chipper. All Bandit chippers have the widest possible infeed hopper openings. The Model 255XP Brush Bandit chippers have a 15” high x 25” wide infeed chipper throat opening.
Power Options
The engine or power unit provides all of the power needed to run the chipper and the hydraulic functions of the chipper. Because Bandit offers such a wide variety of engine options from all of the major engine suppliers, the customer can select the power unit that best suits his specific needs from a performance standpoint as well as a service standpoint. Gas and diesel engine options are available from 120 to 174 horsepower.
