The Model 2890SP is the largest rubber tired self-propelled stump grinder offered from Bandit. This unit is for the high production stump grinding contractor that is consistently grinding larger diameter stumps.
Key Features
• Heavy-duty steel construction
• 120 diesel or 165 gas horsepower engine options available
• 24-½” diameter cutter wheel
• Standard four-wheel drive
Operator Control Choices
The 2890SP can be equipped with either a radio remote control or swing-out operator’s console. The swing-out console features a heavy-duty Lexan window panel, rubber protective drop down curtain, and lever controls. The swing-out option is an excellent choice for those contractors that like to be next to the machine while grinding. The optional radio remote control allows the operator to control all grinding and travel functions away from the machine in a remote location. This feature also comes with a tether back-up if needed.
Hydraulic Relief System
The Model 2890SP features a relief system that relieves the hydraulic pressure in the event that the cutter wheel comes to a complete stop while grinding. This pressure relief system protects the hydraulic pump and components from failure. The relief will all but eliminate the chances of pump and other major drive component failures.
Durable Drive System
The Model 2890SP features a hydrostatic cutter wheel drive system. This system dramatically reduces drive maintenance costs associated with a grinder of this size. This hydrostatic system is extremely reliable and eliminates the need for a drive belt or gear drive to power the cutter wheel drive system. The cutter wheel is simply engaged by hitting a switch on the remote control or control panel. The 2890SP uses a hydraulic motor, and does not require belts or bearings. A heavy-duty 78cc hydraulic pump provides up to 25 percent more torque to the cutter wheel than other grinders in this class. The powerful hydrostatic drive system is reliable, requires minimal maintenance and delivers unsurpassed productivity.
Cutter Wheel Adjustments
A standard variable speed cutter wheel swing adds to the production and versatility of this unit. The swing speed of the cutter wheel is adjustable and allows the operator to control the speed at which the teeth advance into the cut. A slower swing speed is usually desired on larger-diameter or hard stumps, while a faster speed is preferred when grinding smaller-diameter or softer stumps. By adjusting the swing speed, the operator can maximize grinder performance for each grinding situation.
Cutter Dimensions
Impressive grinding dimensions add to the overall productivity of the 2890SP, allowing it to efficiently tackle stumps of all species and sizes. Cutting dimensions include a cutter swing of 75”, a cutting depth of 24”, and a cutting height of 31-½”, reducing the number of times the unit will need re-positioned to grind the stump.
Extremely Versatile
The 2890SP comes standard with four wheel drive, providing unsurpassed power needed for operating in steep, uneven ground conditions and in soft soil. The motors feature brakes that hold the unit in place while grinding, reducing the chances of the grinder sliding back out of the cut. The 2890SP also features wide flotation tires (8” wide) providing great flotation and stability, allowing it to handle hilly terrain while limiting compaction and damage to lawns. (Note: this unit comes standard with dual drive tires that can be removed in order to fit through a 36” backyard gate).
Blade Options
The 2890SP can be ordered with a 35” or 53” wide grading blade simplifying the clean up process after grinding. Side-mounted swing-out chip guards are also available and help farther enhance chip containment.
